Noemi Puig, MD, PhD, University Hospital of Salamanca, Salamanca, Spain, discusses the role of mass spectrometry in the current multiple myeloma framework. She highlights its greater sensitivity compared with conventional methods for detecting monoclonal proteins at diagnosis and during response assessment, its potential to complement bone marrow imaging, and its ability to identify disease progression earlier than immunofixation, while noting that the clinical management of patients who become mass spectrometry-positive remains an open question. This interview took place at the 23rd International Myeloma Society (IMS) Annual Meeting in Glasgow, UK.
