Maher Salamoon, MD, Al-Baironi Hospital, Damascus, Syria, discusses a three-year survival update of a comparative study evaluating a two-month pre-induction regimen of subcutaneous azacitidine and oral venetoclax in newly diagnosed, fit patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). He highlights response rates, progression-free survival (PFS) and treatment-related toxicities observed with this oral treatment approach in patients aged over 65 years. This interview took place at the 14th Annual Meeting of the Society of Hematologic Oncology (SOHO 2026) in Houston, TX.
