SOHO 2026 | Targeting toxic light chains and amyloid deposits to improve outcomes in AL amyloidosis

Giada Bianchi, MD, Brigham and Women’s Hospital & Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA, discusses the role of toxic circulating light chains and amyloid deposits in driving mortality in light chain (AL) amyloidosis. She highlights the importance of combining plasma cell-directed therapy to suppress light chain production with therapies that remove amyloid deposits and enable organ recovery, particularly in patients with advanced cardiac involvement. This interview took place at the 14th Annual Meeting of the Society of Hematologic Oncology (SOHO 2026) in Houston, TX.
