The importance of treatment intensity in frail and elderly patients with multiple myeloma

Siobhan Glavey, MD, PhD, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Dublin, Ireland, highlights the importance of treatment intensity for frail and elderly patients with multiple myeloma. By looking over 10 years of real-world data, Prof. Glavey has observed that elderly patients with multiple myeloma treated over a longer period have better overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) of the disease. This suggests that multiple myeloma treatment is well tolerated by elderly patients and maintaining these patients on consistent regimens is key to increase their survival. This interview was recorded virtually.
