CAR-T Meeting 2022 | Educating patients and nurses on CAR-T therapy

Michelle Kenyon, King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, London, UK, talks on the importance of educating patients about chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy and highlights CAR-T therapy educational resources for nurses. Nurses play a key role in educating and preparing patients for common symptoms they may experience after CAR-T therapy in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. There is a large number of resources on CAR-T therapy available for nurses, including the recently published EBMT/EHA CAR-T Cell Handbook, product-specific guidelines for nurses and healthcare professionals developed by pharmaceutical industry partners, and online tools and videos. Ms Kenyon also mentions the monthly webinars on CAR-T therapy for nurses and healthcare professionals organized by the GoCART consortium. This interview took place at the EBMT-EHA 4th European CAR T-cell Meeting which was held virtually in 2022.
