IACH Focus on Leukemia 2020 | The role of autologous transplant in AML

Mohamad Mohty, MD, PhD, Saint-Antoine Hospital, Paris, France, discusses the use of autologous transplants in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Autologous transplants were widely used in the past, but have become less popular. Some studies have shown that autologous transplants were more effective than chemotherapy, however, there are no randomized clinical trials evaluating autologous transplants. Now, with the development of novel agents, the scope of autologous transplants is smaller. For AML patients that are MRD negative and have a good prognosis, autologous transplantation could be a valid option. This interview took place during the 2020 Annual Meeting of the International Academy for Clinical Hematology (IACH).
