iwCLL 2021 | BCL receptor signalling and CLL cell migration

Dimitar Efremov, MD, PhD, International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Trieste, Italy, discusses the role of different receptor-ligand systems in regulating cancer cell growth in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). In-vivo evidence already exists for a pro-cancer role of BCL, toll-like and CXCR4 receptors; however, the relative contribution of each of these receptors to cancer growth remains unclear. Dr Efremov reports new findings that link BCL receptor, macrophage and CXCR4 receptor signalling to the regulation of leukemia cell migration. This interview was conducted during the 2021 virtual international workshop on CLL (iwCLL) congress.
