ICLE 2022 | Quality control in manufacturing CAR-T cell therapies

Saskia Rösch, PhD, Miltenyi Biotec, Bergisch Gladbach, Germany, describes methods to directly detect and isolate chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) derived from patient samples, including a CAR detection agent that enables the measurement of the transduction rate and presence of active CARs. The system can currently detect CD19, CD22, CD33, and B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA). Dr Rösch additionally highlights further tools to monitor the metabolome of CAR T-cells, which can be utilized in monitoring patient response. This interview took place at the International Conference on Lymphocyte Engineering (ICLE) 2022.
