Marsha Treadwell, PhD, University Of California San Francisco, San Francisco, CA, briefly comments on the impact living with sickle cell disease (SCD) has on the mental health and psychological resilience of patients and their families. Dr Treadwell highlights the importance of working with patients to address the anxiety, depression, and trauma that often occur as a result of living with the condition.
