In this video, Angela Dispenzieri, MD, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, discusses the importance of early diagnosis and detection in AL amyloidosis. Dr Dispenzieri first highlights the importance of educating and raising awareness of the disease, and considering patients with smoldering myeloma and monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS) as possible AL patients. Dr Dispenzieri also discusses the importance of making the correct diagnosis and typing for different types of amyloidosis to ensure that the appropriate treatment is provided. This interview took place at The International Workshop on Myeloma 2022, held in Scottsdale, AZ.
