Lynn Leppla, RN, MSc, of University Hospital Freiburg, Freiburg, Germany, discusses the development and implementation of an integrated model of care facilitated by e-health, to be tested next year. The SMILe project, faciliatated by EHA, connects cancer patients to care co-ordinators in hematopoietic stem cell transplant centres, allowing patients to flag observed behavioural and symptom-related changes to a clinical nurse specialist through the app. Ms Leppla highlights the benefit of earlier intervention in preventing complications in ASCT patients, as well as the importance of developing innovative new models of care. This interview was recorded at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2018 Congress, in Munich, Germany.
