Ghaith Abu-Zeinah, MD, Weill Cornell Medicine and the New York Presbyterian Hospital, New York City, NY, comments on the results of a study investigating whether splenomegaly correlates with long-term outcomes and survival in patients with polycythemia vera (PV). Dr Abu-Zeinah explains that the study reported that at diagnosis, splenomegaly was predictive of myelofibrosis (MF)-free survival but not overall survival (OS) in patients with PV, explaining how this information can be used to make better treatment decisions. This interview took place at the 14th International Congress on Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (MPN Congress) held in New York City, NY.
