ASCO 2021 | The future of pediatric clinical trials

Rayne H Rouce, MD, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX & Texas Children’s Hospital, Houston, TX, discusses progress in pediatric clinical trials. A majority of Phase I, or first-in-man, trials are conducted in adults, which are a detriment to pediatric patients when certain hematological diseases predominantly occur in children. However, recent trials have included pediatric patients and have yielded results showing safe and efficacious data which will improve the current treatment landscape. This interview took place at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) 2021 Virtual Meeting.
