Jerry Spivak, MD, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, MD, discusses unmet needs and challenges in polycythemia vera (PV), drawing focus on the high risk of thrombosis in patients. Prof. Spivak also comments on the need to improve diagnostic criteria for this disease, and highlights other factors that should be considered to improve the management and treatment of PV.
