CAR-T Meeting 2022 | Challenges that CAR-T therapy can present to patients

In this video, Lorna Warwick, BA, Lymphoma Coalition, Toronto, Canada, gives an overview of the challenges that are faced by patients undergoing chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy, including increased levels of stress and anxiety. Ms Warwick explains that the need for CAR-T therapy may be quite shocking and difficult for patients to cope with, and that these fears could be resolved with better information provision and communication with healthcare professionals. To conclude, Ms Warwick discusses gaps that are seen with what happens after patients leave the hospital following treatment and return home, especially concerns with side effects and financial burdens, and how to provide the best information to help patients govern their decision. This interview took place at the EBMT-EHA 4th European CAR T-cell Meeting which was held virtually in 2022.
