LLM 2021 | Differentiating immune thrombocytopenia from IPD and PID

Michele Lambert, MD, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA, discusses the significance of differentiating pediatric immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) from primary immune deficiency (PID) and other thrombocytopenic disorders, including inherited platelet disorders (IPD). Evaluating patients with autoimmune diseases requires additional tests for underlying diseases and in the case of pediatric patients with ITP, it is necessary to check for a history of rheumatologic disease and other autoimmune diseases. This interview took place at the Lymphoma, Leukemia & Myeloma Congress 2021.
