ASCO 2024 | The combination of FDG PET plus whole-body MRI for diagnosing multiple myeloma

Claudio Cerchione, MD, PhD, Istituto Scientifico Romagnolo per lo Studio e la Cura dei Tumori (IRST) IRCCS, Meldola, Italy, discusses a study evaluating the combination of FDG PET and whole-body MRI for diagnosing multiple myeloma (MM). The study reports a 73% agreement between the two techniques and highlights the high accuracy of whole-body MRI at 97%. This preliminary stage sets the groundwork for a larger clinical trial that will incorporate molecular features to contribute to the development of a prognostic index for MM. This interview took place during the 2024 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
