iwCLL 2023 | The incidence and clinical correlates of non-immune cytopenia at CLL diagnosis

Nil Albiol, MD, Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), Girona, Spain, discusses the incidence of cytopenia at the time of diagnosis of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and concludes that patients who presented with cytopenia at CLL diagnosis had worse prognosis than those who did not have cytopenia, even if the cytopenia improved with treatment. Although the group of individuals was small, patients with both anemia and thrombocytopenia were found to have more features of aggressive disease than those with just thrombocytopenia or neither of the conditions. This interview was recorded at the biennial International Workshop on Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (iwCLL) 2023 meeting, held in Boston, MA.
