BSH 2024 | Optimizing the delivery of care for patients with hemoglobinopathies in the UK

Farrukh Shah, MBBS, FRCP, FRCPath, MD, University College London Hospitals, London, UK, comments on how the delivery of care for patients with hemoglobinopathies can be optimized in the United Kingdom. Dr Shah highlights the significant improvement in the provision of care for patients over the last few decades. However, considerable barriers remain to providing the best possible care due to a lack of human resources and high-quality therapeutic interventions, which must be addressed. This interview took place at the 64th Annual Scientific Meeting of the British Society for Haematology (BSH) Congress in Liverpool, UK.
