Valentín Ortiz-Maldonado, MD, Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain, summarizes the recommendations on career paths in the cellular therapy field that were discussed at EBMT. Young physicians from many countries shared their experiences with initiating their careers and the difficulties encountered, along with the key step of choosing a mentor. Proactivity in pushing projects forward is highly regarded and mentors’ trust is usually not gained overnight. Hard work and the strength to overcome adversities are good signs of future success. This interview took place at the 48th Annual Meeting of the European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT) 2022, which was held virtually.
