Andreas Agathangelidis, PhD, Center for Research and Technology Hellas, Thermi, Greece, discusses the two major goals of current chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) research; identifying novel biomarkers and advancing the current classification system. There has been fruitful research in somatic analysis to identify more CLL biomarkers. By analyzing B-cell receptor stereotypy, specific subgroups with similar immunoglobulin genes have been identified. As unique and specific disease variants at a biological and clinical level are identified, accurate treatment can therefore be administered. This interview took place during the European Research Initiative on CLL (ERIC) International Virtual Meeting 2020.
