Susie Long, PharmD, University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital, Minneapolis, MN, describes the findings of a study investigating the frequency and factors influencing vitamin C levels following hematopoietic cell therapy (HCT) in pediatric patients. The study revealed that the type of nutrition prior to transplant was significantly associated with vitamin C levels following HCT – patients who were on enteral nutrition had a lower chance of being vitamin C deficient when compared to patients on a regular diet. This interview took place at the 2023 Transplantation & Cellular Therapy Meetings of ASTCT™ and CIBMTR® held in Orlando, FL.
