Didier Blaise, MD, PhD, Paoli-Calmettes Institute, Marseille, France, discusses transplant therapy for older patients. For many years older patients have been unable to receive transplant therapy despite standard treatment not yielding good results. However, older patients could benefit greatly from transplant therapy. Studies indicate good long-term survival and quality of life following transplantation. Assessment should not be based on comorbidity score, but according to geriatric scales. This interview took place during the 2020 Annual Meeting of the International Academy for Clinical Hematology (IACH).
