Leon Tshilolo, MD, PhD, Centre Hospitalier Monkole, Kinshasa, DR Congo, discusses the long-term results of the REACH trial (NCT01966731), the first trial investigating the use of hydroxyurea in pediatric patients with sickle cell disease (SCD) in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). Prof. Tshilolo highlights the positive findings, both in terms of clinical outcomes and the social impacts of the treatment.
