iwCLL 2023 | CLL patient-derived xenografts recapitulate clonal evolution of Richter transformation

In this interview, Heribert Playa-Albinyana, BSc, MSc, IDIBAPS, Barcelona, Barcelona, describes the development of a mouse model, using patient-derived xenographs, which was subsequently used as a tool for understanding the clonal evolution of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) to Richter transformation. Using this model, aggressive RT subclones were observed in early stages of the disease, suggesting that these cells should be targeted in patients to reduce the likelihood of transformation occurring. This interview was recorded at the biennial International Workshop on Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (iwCLL) 2023 meeting, held in Boston, MA.
