ASH 2024 | Racial disparities in multiple myeloma and access to stem cell transplantation

Joselle Cook, MBBS, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, comments on the racial disparities in multiple myeloma regarding access to stem cell transplantation (SCT), highlighting the importance of optimizing transplant for patients. Dr Cook notes that despite advances in treatment, SCT remains a standard of care for upfront treatment, and disparities in access have been identified, with factors such as income and insurance playing a role.
