IWWM-11 2022 | Genomic variants in Eastern and Western patients with WM

Shuhua Yi, MD, Institute of Hematology and Blood Diseases Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Tianjin, China, discusses differences in the incidence of Waldenström’s macroglobulinemia (WM) in Eastern and Western populations, and possible explanations for this. Dr Yi shares some insights into a study which used next-generation sequencing (NGS) techniques to analyze various cytogenetic aberrations in patients, and explains the differences observed between the two populations. This interview took place at the 11th International Workshop on Waldenström’s Macroglobulinemia (IWWM-11), held in Madrid, Spain.
