ASCAT 2023 | ERN-EuroBloodNet and SCD management in Europe
In this video, Mariane De Montalembert, MD, PhD, Necker Hospital APHP, Paris, France, explains the importance of the European Reference Network (ERN) on Rare Haematological Diseases (ERN-EuroBloodNet), which aims to improve the overall approach to and the management of individuals with sickle cell disease (SCD) in the EU. Although Africa and the United States have historically been the focus in regards to SCD management, Europe is an area with a high number of SCD patients and is crucial in improving the global management of the disease. This interview was recorded at the 18th Annual Scientific Conference on Sickle Cell and Thalassemia (ASCAT) 2023, held in London, UK.
