ISTH 2023 | Long-term joint outcomes in patients with hemophilia: three-year results from the J-DaUPHIN study
Azusa Nagao, MD, Ogikubo Hospital, Tokyo, Japan, shares findings from the three-year J-DaUPHIN study, an observational prospective study investigating long-term improvement in joint outcomes for patients with hemophilia using Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS). POCUS was used to detect bleeding and joint damage in patients with hemophilia over a three-year period in which patients were receiving prophylaxis. Dr Nagao shares that significant improvement was seen in the Hemophilia Early Arthropathy Detection with Ultrasound (HEAD-US) and synovitis scores. Patient Hemophilia Joint Health Scores (HJHS) also improved, and spontaneous joint bleeding decreased. This interview took place at the 31st Congress of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), held in Montréal, Canada.
