Patients with multiple myeloma (MM) are at higher risk of severe infection due to an increased likelihood of being immunosuppressed. Harsh Parmar, MD, Hackensack University Medical Center, Hackensack, NJ, provides an insight into mortality trends in patients with myeloma with pneumonia, influenza, and COVID-19 between 1999 and 2022. This retrospective analysis utilized data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Wide-Ranging Online Data for Epidemiologic Research (WONDER) database. This interview took place during the 2024 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
