Menin inhibitor-related differentiation syndrome in AML: time for new diagnostic criteria?

Joshua Zeidner, MD, UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, Chapel Hill, NC, discusses the need for new standardized criteria for menin inhibitor-related differentiation syndrome (DS) in acute myeloid leukemia (AML), as current criteria are extrapolated from acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL). Dr Zeidner highlights that DS with menin inhibitors often presents with features not captured by current criteria, such as bone pain, leukocytosis, and hyperinflammation, and proposes pooling data across studies to define criteria, risk factors, and management. This presentation took place at the 8th International Workshop on Acute Leukemias (iwAL) in Cambridge, MA.
