ASH 2022 | Chromosome 1q structural heterogeneity & outcomes in patients with multiple myeloma

Eileen Boyle, MD, PhD, NYU Langone, New York City, NY, discusses the association of different structural changes in chromosome 1q with outcomes in patients with multiple myeloma. By integrating data from the structural changes seen at the 1q level with expression and clinical data, it was shown that there are two main types of chromosomal gains: arm-length gains, which are associated with high-risk features and adverse outcomes, and focal gains, which are associated with more favorable outcomes. This interview took place at the 64th ASH Annual Meeting and Exposition congress in New Orleans, LA.
