EBMT 2024 | Comparing transplantation outcomes: haploidentical vs. unrelated donors

Raynier Devillier, MD, PhD, Paoli-Calmettes Institute, Marseille, France, discusses transplantation outcomes for patients who have a haploidentical versus unrelated donor. Data from the SFGM-TC (The French Society of Marrow Transplantation and Cellular Therapy) supports that survival outcomes are similar between the two donor types, allowing physicians to choose between the two based on individual patient needs. Dr Devillier also mentions the importance of individualizing conditioning regimens and graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) prophylaxis. This interview took place at the 50th Annual Meeting of the EBMT in Glasgow, Scotland.
