Academic history

Vaishali Sanchorawala, MD, is currently a Professor of Medicine at the Boston University School of Medicine, Boston, MA. She is also the Director of the Autologous Stem Cell Transplant Program at the Boston Medical Center, Boston, MA, and the Director of the Amyloidosis Center at the Boston University School of Medicine.

Dr Sanchorawala completed her medical studies at the Seth G.S. Medical College, Bombay, India in 1988. She then moved to New Jersey to complete her residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Newark, NJ, in 1994, followed by a fellowship in hematology/oncology at the Boston Medical Center in 1997.

Speaking on myeloma, amyloidosis, and stem cell transplantation

Dr Sanchorawala’s research interests lie in amyloid light-chain amyloidosis and its treatments. Her recent work includes the ongoing Phase II SWOG S1702 study (NCT03499808) which is investigating the anti-CD38 monoclonal antibody isatuximab for patients with relapsed/refractory amyloid light-chain amyloidosis.
