Simon Rule, MD, is a Consultant Haematologist based in Derriford Hospital Plymouth, UK, and a Professor of Clinical Haematology at Plymouth University Peninsula Medical School. Professor Rule qualified with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from Nottingham Medical School, UK, in 1987. Whilst still a medical student, he was awarded a Master of Philosophy degree for research into chronic myeloid leukemia. He trained at the Westminster and Hammersmith hospitals in London, UK, and in Perth, Western Australia, in hematology.

Professor Rule is Research and Development Director for Plymouth and is a member of the National Cancer Research Network (NCRN) lymphoma trials committee. He is also chair of the NCRN Low Grade NHL Committee and on the clinical trials committees for Cancer Research UK and Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. His area of interest is mantle cell lymphoma. He is currently the chief investigator for a number of Phase II and III lymphoma studies being conducted at local, national, and international levels. And an author on over 120 publications.
