Sara Ghorashian

Academic history

Sara Ghorashian, MD, PhD, FRCPath, is a Consultant Pediatric Hematologist at the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust in London, UK, and also works as a Principal Clinical Research Associate at the UCL Institute of Child Health, London, UK.

Dr Ghorashian obtained her BMBCh from Oxford University and completed a PhD in immunology from University College London, London, UK, where she was also a MRC Clinical Training Fellow. Dr Ghorashian then undertook her training as a Hematology Specialist Registrar at the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, London, UK.

Speaking on T-cell immunobiology & CAR-T therapy for pediatric patients with R/R ALL

Dr Ghorashian’s research is focused on understanding T-cell immunobiology to improve the efficacy of CAR-T therapy in pediatric patients with relapsed/refractory (R/R) hematological malignancies such as acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML).

Dr Ghorashian is also a co-investigator for two CAR-T therapy studies in ALL, and is actively involved in launching early-phase clinical trials for pediatric patients with high-risk R/R hematological malignancies.
