Academic History

Pinkal Desai, MD, MPH, is the clinical director of the Molecular Aging Institute at the Englander Institute for Precision Medicine and associate professor of medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College, New York, NY. She is also an attending physician at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

Dr Desai received her MBBS from Byramjeejeebhoy Medical College, Maharashtra, India, followed by a MPH from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Public Health, Birmingham, AL. She subsequently completed her residency training at Wayne State University, Detroit Medical Center, Detroit, MI, before undertaking fellowship training in Hematology-Medical Oncology at Providence Hospital Medical Center, where she served as Chief Fellow.

Dr Desai is a member of the American Society of Hematology (ASH) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).

Speaking on leukemias, myelodysplastic syndrome, and myeloproliferative neoplasms

Dr Desai specializes in myeloid malignancies, with a clinical focus on acute myeloid leukemia (AML), myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), and myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs). Her research centers on the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of these diseases, with a focus on the epidemiology of disease risk and outcomes.
