Academic History

Nicolas Bonadies, MD, is a Senior Physician at the University Clinic for Hematology and Central Hematological Laboratory, Bern University Hospital, Bern, Switzerland, and an Associate Professor of Hematology at the University of Bern. Dr Bonadies qualified at the University of Bern where he remained to train as an internal medicine resident. He undertook a research fellowship at the University of Cambridge Department of Hematology, Cambridge, UK, before returning to Bern to specialize in clinical hematology.

As part of his senior role at Bern University Hospital, Dr Bonadies serves as Deputy Head of Clinical Hematology, Head of the MDS Center of Excellence and Head of the Coordinated Haematological Research Management System (CHARMS).

Speaking on AML/MDS treatment and diagnostics

Dr Bonadies’ specialist area is the diagnosis and treatment of myeloid neoplasms. In particular, he has published significantly on genetic factors in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and genome sequencing. As part of the SAKK leukemia project group, Dr Bonadies is involved in running a major project to set up a Swiss MDS register and biobank.
