Academic history
Morie Gertz, MD, earned his medical degree at Loyola University, Chicago, IL, and Stritch School of Medicine, Maywood, IL. Following this Dr Gertz completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center, Denver, CO. Dr Gertz then completed a fellowship at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine and the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, Rochester, MN, where he currently works as a Professor of Medicine and a Consultant in the Division of Hematology, Department of Internal Medicine.
Speaking on amyloidosis and myeloma
Prof. Gertz has carried out extensive research in the fields of amyloidosis, multiple myeloma and Waldenström’s macroglobulinemia. He is particularly involved in stem cell transplantation in the treatment of multiple myeloma, as well as studying relapse rates in these patients. Dr Gertz has been the Principal Investigator in several clinical trials testing novel versus traditional therapies for patients with amyloidosis.
