Academic History
Luciano Costa, MD, PhD, UAB School of Medicine, Birmingham, AL, obtained his medical degree and PhD from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. He trained in Hematology and Medical Oncology at the University of Colorado and in blood and marrow transplantation at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Senior Clinical Investigator at the University of Alabama, Birmingham O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center, where he leads the Immune Effector Cellular Therapy Program.

Dr Costa is an expert in cellular therapies and immunotherapy in the field of multiple myeloma. Since 2020, he has been a scientist at the Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS).
