John Seymour

Academic History

John Seyour, MBBS, FRACP, PhD, is the director of the Department of Hematology at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and the Haematology Department at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Melbourne, Australia.

Prof. Seymour received his medical degree in 1987 from the University of Melbourne. He then went on to complete a translational research fellowship at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX, and a PhD in hematology at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, Oxford, UK.

Speaking on lymphoproliferative disorders

Prof. Seymour is an active member of several committees at a national and international level. These groups include the Scientific Advisory Committee for the International Conference on Malignant Lymphoma, the Medical Advisory Board of the Lymphoma Coalition, and the International Extranodal Lymphoma Study Group. He is also involved in clinical trials of hematologic malignancies, serving as an executive member and chair of the Australasian Leukaemia and Lymphoma Group. Furthermore, Prof. Seymour is involved in research publications as the editor in chief of Leukemia & Lymphoma as well as on the editorial board of Blood and the British Journal of Haematology.
