Academic history
John Pagel, MD, PhD, is a Hematologist at the Swedish Cancer Institute, Seattle, WA, where he is Chief of Hematologic Malignancies. Dr Pagel received his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine, Boston, MA, in 1996. Following that, he completed a residency at the University of California, San Francisco, CA (1999).
Dr Pagel is board certified in internal medicine and is a member of several associations such as the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (ASBMT) and American Society of Hematology (ASH).

Dr Pagel’s clinical interest lies in individualized patient care. His research focuses on transplantation for the treatment of hematologic malignancies.
