Academic history
Chiatra Ujjani, MD, completed her medical education at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 2005 and her residency in internal medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, PA, in 2008. Dr Ujjani completed a fellowship in hemato-oncology at Georgetown University Hospital, DC, where she also held the position of Chief Fellow of the Hemato-Oncology Department until 2011.
Dr Ujjani currently treats patient with hematologic cancers at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, WA, and is an Associate Professor at the University of Washington.
Speaking on targeted therapies in CLL and B-cell malignancies
Dr Ujjani’s research focuses on targeted therapies in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and B-cell malignancies, as well as improving immunotherapy through cellular engineering. She has led and designed many clinical trials for novel drug combinations that aim to improve tumour targeting and decrease side effects. Dr Ujjani is currently involved in two active trials, one of which is investigating the efficacy of ibrutinib and venetoclax in relapsed and refractory follicular lymphoma.
