Carmelo Gurnari, MD, is a physician-scientist specializing in hematology, working as an assistant professor at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, Rome, Italy, and as a research associate at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, OH.

Dr Gurnari earned his MD from the University of Pavia, Pavia, Italy, and completed his training in hematology at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. He subsequently joined the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, OH, where he completed his PhD and worked as a research fellow in the Department of Translational Hematology and Oncology Research.

Speaking on the genomics of MDS, AML, and bone marrow failure syndromes

Dr Gurnari has a passion for the genomics and disease biology of myeloid malignancies, including myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), acute myeloid leukemia (AML), and bone marrow failure syndromes. His research focuses on using molecular sequencing technologies to uncover the ontogenetics of leukemia and advance early therapeutic approaches.
