Academic history
Bart Biemond, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Internal Medicine and Hematologist at the Academic Medical Center, University of Amsterdam, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He also works as a Consultant at Flevo Hospital, Almere, The Netherlands and OLVG Hospital, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Furthermore, Prof. Biemond serves as the Head of the Hemoglobinopathy Expertise Center and Chairman of the transfusion committee of the Academic Medical Center.
Prof. Biemond is a member of the CURAMA and Score study group, as well as an active member of the acute leukemia and benign hematology working group of HOVON.
Speaking on sickle cell disease and coagulopathy in patients with hematological malignancies
Prof. Biemond has studied sickle cell disease in The Netherlands as part of the CURAMA study group and is involved in the HOVON working group, which is currently looking at patients with newly diagnosed acte myeloid leukemia or myelodysplastic syndromes.
