Academic history

Alessandro Gozzetti, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Hematology at University of Siena, and a Staff Physician in the Division of Hematology of the Policlinico Le Scotte, Italy. Dr Gozzetti earned his medical degree in 1993, and carried out a hematology fellowship in 1997, both at the University of Bologna, Italy. He also completed his PhD at the University of Bologna, in the field of oncology. After this, Dr Gozzetti worked for three years at the University of Chicago, Chicago, IL, as a research fellow in the molecular cytogenetic cancer center laboratory.

Dr Gozzetti has authored and co-authored over 150 peer reviewed research papers, and is a member of the European Hematology Association, the American Hematology Association, and the Italian Hematology Association.

Speaking on multiple myeloma, leukemia, cell transplantation and MRD

Dr Gozzetti carries out research in all areas of hematology but has specific focus on multiple myeloma and leukemia. Recent research papers that Dr Gozzetti has co-authored include those outlining the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on myeloma and leukemia patients, whilst previous co-authored papers focus on developing new treatments for myeloma and leukemia.
