Academic History
Abhishek Maiti, MD, received his medical degree from Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College in Kolkata, India. Dr Maiti then completed a clinical internship at the Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College and Hospital. After this he moved to the US and completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Texas, Houston, TX, followed by a fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.
Dr Maiti currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Leukemia at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He has received many awards including the ASCO Young Investigator Award in 2020 and the Kimberly Patterson Fellowship in recognition of excellence in leukemia research.
Speaking on novel therapies for acute leukemias
Dr Maiti’s main research focus is on novel therapies for the treatment of acute leukemias. He is currently involved in multiple trials investigating BCL-2 inhibitors for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and also undertakes translational research in the same field.
