Molecular biology and clinical outcomes of blast-transformed CMML

Mrinal Patnaik, MBBS, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, presents on blast transformation to acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML), which remains the major cause of mortality in this disease. He explains that blast transformation is genomically heterogeneous, with NRAS and RUNX1 mutations the most common, and that RAS pathway activation is a central biological driver of transformation. Prof. Patnaik highlights that future progress will likely require genomically informed therapies. This presentation took place at the 8th International Workshop on Acute Leukemias (iwAL) in Cambridge, MA.
