ERIC CLL 2026 | Future directions for understanding how current CLL therapies affect the tumor microenvironment

Tanja Hartmann, MD, University Medical Center Freiburg, Freiburg, Germany, discusses the future direction of research on how current therapies affect the tumor microenvironment in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). Prof. Hartmann highlights the potential of spatial transcriptomics to reveal how CLL cells interact with their neighbors and respond to specific therapies, and how this knowledge could guide the development of more effective immunotherapies to overcome resistance. This interview took place at the 2026 ERIC International Meeting in Barcelona, Spain.
