ERIC CLL 2026 | Addressing changes to genomic prognostic markers in CLL beyond the chemotherapy era

Anna Schuh, MD, PhD, University of Oxford, Oxford, UK, discusses changes in genomic prognostic markers in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), highlighting that TP53 abnormalities and the immunoglobulin locus remain important, particularly for identifying high-risk CLL and guiding treatment decisions. Dr Schuh notes that while mutated CLL responds well to single-agent fixed-duration therapy, unmutated patients may require more careful consideration of MRD-directed therapy, and that complex karyotype and stereotyped subsets are also important to consider. This interview took place at the 2026 ERIC International Meeting in Barcelona, Spain.
